About this place
The choice of hot pot sets the tone for the meal. Yuhime serves several varieties, including miso, soy sauce, and mentaiko with grated yam. Its Hakata Special Miso Motsunabe combines several kinds of miso, including Kyushu and Saikyo miso, with the restaurant’s own sauce. It is a rich option for anyone drawn to the depth of miso. The Hakata Excellent Soy Sauce Motsunabe layers an original soy sauce blend with stock from offal, vegetables and seafood. The Mentaiko and Grated Yam Motsunabe starts with soy sauce broth made with flying fish stock, then brings together mentaiko and grated yam. It is described as light yet full-bodied.
Choosing how to finish the hot pot is part of the fun. Options include champon noodles, udon, a rice-porridge set with rice, egg, seaweed and spring onion, grated-yam rice porridge, and cheese risotto. The Excellent Hakata Mentaiko Motsunabe can also be finished with fresh pasta or cheese risotto, keeping the hot pot at the centre of the meal from start to finish.
Horse sashimi is another option while the hot pot cooks, or as an additional dish. The two-cut platter pairs premium lean horse with mane meat; the three-cut version adds futaego, a cut from the ribs. Choose a platter to sample several cuts, or order a half portion of a favourite. Yuhime can suit a meal shared around a hot pot, and reservations are recommended for dinner.
